Uduaghan strongly condemned the recent kidnap of the fourteen journalists in the creeks of the state following the botched groundbreaking of the project by President Goodluck Jonathan, stating that President Jonathan was worried as a result of the incident and has charged security operatives to unravel circumstances surrounding the abduction.

According to the governor, the project was originally billed for Koko but had to be relocated to the present site at Ogidigben because of the shallow nature of the waters at the initial location, noting that if Mr. President had ulterior motive he could have taken it to another state.

“This is a $16 billion project which was approved by Mr. President to be located in Delta State, the initial place the project was to be located at Koko but because of the need for a deep sea port, it was relocated to Ogidigben.

A suicide bomber was beating to death after he was accosted at a bus station in Gombe state. The witnesses said.

The man was stopped as he tried to get into the bus station where eight people were killed and 34 injured on October 31, 2014 when explosions rocked in the morning rush hour.

Residents also said that the man was killed on the spot and claimed that he was himself wearing explosives, although it was not immediately clear from the police version of events.

“There was a scuffle. He was overpowered by the onlookers who pounced on him in order to assist in making sure his bag was searched,” state police commissioner Abdullahi Kudu told reporters.

“Mob action overtook the event but we thank God he was not able to detonate the explosives because he had a remote. The remote was equally recovered.”

A bomb disposal team made safe the explosives, which Kudu said were five rocket-propelled grenades, two mortars, two cylinders and five detonators.
